Review 1996 In early 1996 the Minister of Justice announced a review of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989, five years after its enactment. An Advisory Commmittee was set up, comprising Sir John Robertson (chair), Alan Dormer and Althea Vercoe. In July 1996 the Ministry of Justice circulated Liquor Review 1996: A discussion paper as a basis for submissions to the Review. The Advisory Committee's report to the Minister was released in April 1997, and is available on-line from the Ministry of Justice's website. The Alcohol & Public Health Research Unit made a submission to the Review, addressing these issues and raising some additional ones, based on research in this area. APHRU's Submission to the Review.
