Young People, Alcohol and Safer Public Spaces APHRU are currently undertaking a project, funded by the Alcohol Advisory Council in 2001, to inform the development of strategies for increasing safety in public spaces. Its focus in on the context and links between young people's drinking, alcohol-related violence and incidents in public spaces. The project is examining a range of qualitative and quantitative data about incidents in public spaces throughout the Auckland region that have involved young people and alcohol. The findings will be made available to local councils, safer city coordinators plus alcohol and health promotion workers, in order to assist their work creating safer public spaces in Auckland.
